Expected length of employment: 2 years
EDUCATION/LICENSE: B.S. or Pharm.D (preferred) degree in Pharmacy. Valid and current Licensure as a pharmacist in California.
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Pharmacy Systems Manager - Applications or a Pharmacy Leader (Operations or Informatics) and in collaboration with other Pharmacy Leaders, the Pharmacy Systems Manager Deployment is responsible for the Medical Center/MOB deployment of Programwide or Large Scale Regional (California) applications such as OutPatient/InPatient/Ancillary pharmacy systems or Operational Improvement Programs. Negotiates and works collaboratively with local leadership (Pharmacy, Nursing , Physicians, Medical Group Mgrs.) to construct and execute a detailed implementation plan . Manages and directs a number of staff and/or contractor resources plus other Medical Center Managers in a matrix environment to ensure a smooth transition from current to new automated solutions/workflows. Ensures that the transition plan and execution thereof minimizes the impact of the conversion to members, internal staff and other Medical Center personnel. Supports leadership in the definition and attainment of organizational and strategic goals involving technology and operations. Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws, regulations, and standards (accreditation) regarding the provision of Pharmacy services, Divisional Pharmacy objectives, policies, and procedures. Assists the Pharmacy Systems Manager Applications and/or Pharmacy Leaders with the organization and implementation of strategic initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS: 7+ years ( usually) previous relevant supervisory/management experience in a comparable pharmaceutical or pharmacy setting. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of currently existing Pharmacy systems?Two or more ( usually ) years relevant experience in implementing large scale software implementations projects and/or workflow redesign. Demonstrated self-initiative and innovation, and the ability to collaborate with others. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage professionals and others through influence and collaboration in pharmacy and other entities/departments. Demonstrated ability to utilize verbal and written communication skills. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of system design and testing along with applicable state and federal pharmacy regulations. Demonstrated ability to lead and work as a member of a professional team. Demonstrated proficiency in team building, conflict resolution, consulting , group interaction, project management, and budget management. Demonstrated ability to utilize leadership skills plus the ability to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and make tough decisions. Demonstrated ability to manage change efforts and workflow re-design.

DUTIES: Designs, develops, directs, and leads the effort associated with deploying new programwide systematic solutions and/or workflows that replace our present Outpatient/Inpatient/Ancillary pharmacy systems or Statewide Business Practices. Responsible for developing/planning and executing the detailed local Medical Center/MOB implementation plan to ensure a smooth transition which minimally impacts our members or staff. Constructs a transition plan that addresses all crossfunctional and integrated workflow changes to ensure a seamless transition to members, pharmacy staff and others (Physicians, Nurses, Patient Business Services, etc.) that will be impacted by this major change. During the transition period, manages and coaches staff and/or contractor resources in partnership with local Medical Center/MOB leadership to ensure a smooth transition.
These resources working side by side local personnel execute all components of the cut-over plan and are ultimately responsible for the transition and cutover from old systems or processes to new ones. Makes go/no-go decisions regarding situational adjustments to deal with unforeseen issues that surface. Influences and negotiates with cross-functional Medical Center Leadership and Managers to capitalize on the capabilities of the new systems or workflows by enhancing or taking advantage of current functionality to implement new Programwide initiatives such as the documentation of Medication/Patient allergies, Electronic Medication documentation and Distribution, implementation of large scale new drug benefit plans such as Medicare Part D and HDHP (high deductible health plans). Linkage to leaders and stakeholders of other business units to gain their support to address issues important to our operations and theirs. Responsible for leading the transition plan and in partnership with other key stakeholders makes the final go/no-go decisions. Has overall responsibility for the communication and dissemination of information and works collaboratively with other regions to develop common executable implementation plans. Provides leadership and oversight direction to a team of professionals responsible for formulating and implementing the best approach to achieve the desired goals and objectives. Actively manages and further develops the skills and expertise of staff. Perform other duties as directed.
